Dear Veterans, Families, and Friends of the 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion- It is my sad responsibility to report the loss of another of our 818th Veterans. Several days ago I received a letter from the son of Wayne Rogne of Recon Co. Wayne passed away 8 Dec 2007. He will be very much missed by his 818th buddies and friends. I also learned from the letter that his wife, Hennie, had preceded him in death. She passed away in 2006. I had the pleasure of spending time with Wayne at the 2002 Reunion in Yankton and the 2005 Reunion in Waterloo. Although I wish it could have been more, I am thankful for that short amount of time. Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Rogne, 89, of Spencer, formerly of Linn Grove and Hartley, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Linn Grove. Rev. Mark Youngquist will officiate the service. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m., Wednesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Spencer. Interment will take place at Barnes Township Cemetery of Linn Grove. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 367 of Linn Grove. Wayne passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Longhouse Residence of Spencer. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
