Joseph was born on June 15, 1919 and passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009.
Joseph was a resident of Sterling, Illinois at the time of his passing.
He attended St. Mary's Grade School and Community High School (class of 1937).
A veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while serving in five major European campaigns. He was a Captain in the 818 Tank Destroyer Battalion.
He is survived by his wife Ruth.
Prayer services will be held on Thursday May 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the McDonald-Allen-Grennan Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling followed by the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sterling, with Reverend Jesus Dominguez, Celebrant officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home with the Rosary being recited at 5 PM.
