Funeral services for Vonnie Olen "Buddy" Quick, 91, of Hanceville AL were be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Trueman Davis officiating; with interment with military honors in Hopewell Cemetery.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Quick passed away on Fri., Dec. 2, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Hanceville on May 25, 1920 to Jessie and Anna Byrum Quick. He served in the US Army during WWII [Recon Co.] and was wounded in Germany on March 28, 1945. He received an honorable discharge on March 1, 1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, American Campain Service Medal and the American Defense Medal. After his discharge, he returned to Hanceville where he married Dorothy Charlene Brown and they had two children. They moved to Gardendale and then to Florida where he worked as an Aviation Mechanic for National Airlines and Pan Am for 23 years. He then moved back to Hanceville to the family farm and became a farmer. He is survived by his two sons, Donald Neil Quick and Charles Olen Quick; 6 grandchildren, Tammy Bradshaw, Barbara Poliquin, Robert Quick, Nicole Hurst, Misti Mentzer and Donald Neil Quick Jr. and 15 great grandchildren.
